Yoga at VIVObarefoot
Excited to share my new collaboration. Workshop Yoga & Feet at VIVObarefoot
On 15.02.2023, Wednesday, from 08:30 to 09:30, I will be giving a workshop at the VIVObarefoot store (before the opening hours) at Neubaugasse 12-14, 1070 Vienna, Austria. You can book easily at https://www.yordanka.at.
Have you ever heard about barefoot shoes? That's minimalistic shoes whose purpose is to strengthen the feet naturally. The wide toe box and the thin, flexible soles are characteristic of barefoot shoes. The feeling of freedom as if you are walking barefoot.
I used to wear very tight shoes, believing that's supporting my foot. I was very disturbed if there was space in front of my toes. Sometimes I would even put cotton to fill the gap. I used to believe that a good shoe also supports the foot's arch.
Eventually, I developed Hallux Valgus and flat feet. The reasons are not clear. It could be genetic because I have relatives with the same issue. Wearing tight shoes didn't help me much, for sure.
Barefoot shoes are not penicillin for every foot pain but, in many cases, can help. Of course, I recommend a physician consultation if you have foot issues.
Watch the video to discover why your favorite conventional shoes might be wrong for your feet.
If barefoot shoes are for you, then you can rely on professional and attentive customer service at the VIVObarefoot store at Neubaugasse. They are patient and take the time to advise, explain, and answer questions. Especially if you are getting your first pair of barefoot, you should get a consultation at the store. Only purchase online after you try.
There are different shapes of feet and various types of barefoot shoes according to individual needs.

In this workshop, we will explore how yoga contributes to foot health. Traditionally, we perform asanas barefoot, which, as you can imagine, provides an opportunity to strengthen the feet muscles naturally.
On the other side, strong and healthy feet are a good foundation for all the standing and balancing sequences. We explore classical asanas with more awareness of building posture from the feet.
We will also go through backbends, forward folds, and seated poses. You will be surprised how much those asana groups also have to do with foot placement and awareness.
In this one hour, we will practice things such as Pada Bandha (feet lock) and cultivating qualities of grounding, stability, and safety. We will focus on foot health, strengthening, and stretching. We will explore the connection between the feet and the pelvic floor, as well as the importance of feet alignment for correct body posture.
A limited number of participants. Only with pre-reservations. Bring your yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. Suitable for all levels, also beginners friendly.
